North Yorkshire Police are currently investigating a serious collision in Harrogate.

It happened approximately 3.10am on Sunday (6th March 2022) involving three cars at Cold Bath Road.

The horrific scene pictured below above is when a VW Golf R travelling from the town centre, towards Otley Road, collided with two parked cars.

The vehicle contained a number of passengers, at least one of whom was left unconscious on the road by the driver who is believed to have made off from the scene.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said 'it is only by sheer luck that the collision didn’t result in a fatality.'

In a statement from the force:

"As part of the investigation we would like to appeal to local residents and businesses to check their CCTV systems and ring doorbells around the time of the collision as it may have captured the vehicle, the collision, and anyone making off from the scene shortly afterwards.

"Additionally, if anyone has any other information about the incident which may assist our enquiries please contact us quoting reference 12220038835."
