Political, civic and religious leaders from North Yorkshire will attend a service at York Minster this evening (Saturday 11 November) to call for peace and an end to conflict in Israel and Gaza.

The Dean of York, the Very Reverend Dominic Barrington will begin the vigil with an address, with others then sharing their own reflections.

A period of silence for people to have their own thoughts and prayers will take place, during which pieces of white paper will be provided to the congregation - these will then be placed on the cathedral's altar to create a large white dove of peace.

Candles will be lit as a tribute to those who are suffering and in memory of the people who've died during the conflict.
