The herd of 66 elephants sculptures from Worcester's Big Parade will go on show together for the last time before they go under the hammer.

St Richard's Hospice, who were behind the summer event, are inviting people to take a look at the elephants at Worcestershire County Cricket Club in a series of farewell events.

It will be the last chance to see all the large elephants before they are auctioned to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice, which cares for patients with serious progressive illnesses and their loved ones across Worcestershire.

Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Stephen Hodgson was joined by two school pupils at the opening ceremony in July

A mosaic ele-baby displayed outside the cathedral, Spark-Ele, will also be auctioned – while the remaining calves will be returned to the schools and groups which decorated them.

David Hoskins, Worcestershire CCC Head of Commercial and Operations, said: “Worcester’s Big Parade has been a wonderful way to get us all out and about again this summer and has brought so much joy to trail-goers big and small.

“The Farewell Events are the perfect way to recapture some of that summer ele-fun and to support a charity which does so much for the community here in Worcestershire. We can’t wait to host to the herd at New Road, including our beautiful club-sponsored elephant Azalea.”

Tickets are now available for the Farewell Events, with visitors able to book one-hour slots to see the elephants between Thursday 30 September - Sunday 3 October and again from Thursday 7 October - Sunday 10 Oct 2021.

Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We’re so excited to offer this opportunity before our herd leave the city for their forever homes.

“It’s going to be fantastic to see all 66 of our elephants together grazing at New Road. We hope to see you there!”

Proceeds from the Farewell Event will support the free care and support that St Richard’s Hospice provides to local patients and their families.

Tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for children aged two to 16, while under twos go free. Family tickets for either two adults, two children or one adult, three children are available for £15. To book visit: www.worcestersbigparade.co.uk/farewell
