The Mayor of Worcester will be holding a special Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday 5 June.

It is part of the city's celebrations of Her Majesty The Queen becoming the first monarch in history to reign for 70 years.

Local residents will join the city's first citizen at the event at the Guildhall.

The idea is for the residents attending to have contributed to the wellbeing of the city over the last two very difficult and challenging years.

Nominations are now open for members of community groups and organisations, or individuals.

Residents should nominate those who have gone above and beyond the norm to support and enhance the lives of others in Worcester.

Nominations can be made at here:

Nominations need to be submitted no later than midday on April 29.

You must be over 18 to make a nomination and you need to explain in no more than 200 words why your nominee should attend the Big Jubilee Lunch.

Attendees will be chosen at random from the nominations received. Any attendees under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

A two-course lunch is also being organised both to thank the attendees for their invaluable efforts in supporting Worcester's communities, and as a celebration of The Queen's reign.

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee - street parties will also take place across the city, as well as the lighting of a beacon in Fort Royal Park.
