Volunteers from Margate RNLI lifeboat station recently assisted in the rescue of a dog from the sea near Botany Bay.

The UK Coastguard received a report in the afternoon of Wednesday, May 1st, regarding two individuals who had entered the water to rescue the German Shepherd named Bear, who had gone missing from a Margate house the previous night.

Despite efforts from the public, Bear made his way along the beach towards Broadstairs. With the help of social media, Bear's owner was identified, and the lifeboat crew, who knew Bear well, continued their efforts to recover him.

Finally, near Stone Bay, the lifeboat crew managed to capture Bear, and he was safely reunited with his owners.

Del Amas, Lifeboat Operations Manager at RNLI Margate, emphasized the importance of not attempting a rescue in such situations and advised contacting the Coastguard for assistance.

Fortunately, four-year-old Bear emerged from his adventure relatively unharmed.
