Police in Kent have charged a man after two people were assaulted in Gravesend in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Daniel Wray, from Winchester Road in Orpington, in Dartford on Friday (January 5th) in connection with the incident.

Following a CCTV appeal to the local population, Wray was arrested in connection to the assaults which resulted in two people being stabbed at around 3:15 am on New Year's Day.

The 31-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Saturday (January 6th) in relation to his role at the incident.

An 18-year-old man was one of the two people assaulted, with a 15-year-old boy also being stabbed.

Both victims of the attack reported that a man had approached them as they were walking towards Gravesend's town centre, close to the Harmer Street area of the town.

The man is alleged to have insulted them incessantly before assaulting them and stabbing them. The injuries they received, when looked at by medical professionals, are consistent with those of stab wounds.

After being assaulted, both the man and the boy were taken a hospital in London where they received medical treatment. The victims were eventually released and allowed to go back to Gravesend.

Wray is now being charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of cannabis.

A second woman, aged 28 and from Gravesend, was also arrested in connection with the assault. After being questioned by officers, she was also released on bail until April 3rd.

The force are continuing to appeal for help in regards to the incident, asking anyone with any relevant information to get in touch by calling Kent Police and quoting reference number 46/164/24.
