Appeal after man stabbed in the buttocks in Wigan

The 29 year old was found injured on Central Park Way

A man's been left in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in Wigan.

It happened at around 11:50pm last night (Thursday 6 July 2017) by the Mercure Wigan Oak Hotel on Central Park Way.

Police found the 29 year old with stab wounds on his legs and buttocks.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious, but not life-threatening condition.

The offender is described as wearing a red baseball cap, black t-shirt with a white square motif and black jogging bottoms.

He was last seen at about 11.35pm on Orchard Street, in Wigan going in the direction of Scholes.

An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing to trace the offender.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Rigby of GMP’s Wigan Borough said: “A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed and we’ve launched an investigation to find whoever did this.

“We have detectives working on this and we are doing all we can to catch the offender.

“If you know who was responsible, or you saw what happened, I urge you to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
