Body found after commercial building fire in Blackburn

A body has been found in a commercial building in Blackburn, four days after a fire there.

The blaze happened at a property on Lower Hollin Bank Street on Saturday, and emergency services recovered the body yesterday.

Police are now working to identify the body.

The fire remains under investigation.

A statement from Lancashire Police says: "On Saturday, April 24th emergency services attended a fire at a commercial address on Lower Hollin Bank Street in Blackburn.

"Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, April 28th police were called to reports of a concern for welfare at the same address and officers attended.

"Following a search by police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service the body of an adult was sadly discovered at the property.

"Enquiries are now underway to identify the deceased and to establish the circumstances surrounding their death.

"The cause of the fire remains under investigation with colleagues from LFRS.

"Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number 0537 of April 28th.

"Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
