Like many events this year, Bonfire Night may be a little different from what we are used to. Don’t worry, we are here to save the day (or even year) with these ideas for tasty treats.

So whether you are having a little get together with your support bubble or just cosying up on the sofa with your family; take a look at our mouth-watering ideas to ensure your November is full of tasty treats!

9 tasty treats for Bonfire Night

S'mores

An increase in popularity in recent years, these gooey, crunchy parcels are a sure fire way (excuse the pun) to please all the family. Simply grab your favourite biscuits, chocolate and some fluffy marshmallows and you are good to go! Why not add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a dollop of caramel sauce to make your s'mores extra autumnal!

Toffee Apples

You guessed it, a classic and almost cliché food of Bonfire Night is the humble toffee apple. Create all of the fun of the fair from the comfort of your own home with apples, golden caster sugar and golden syrup; mix together, pour over your apples, stick a lollipop stick in the fruit, let set for a couple of hours and bingo!

Hot Dogs

Smothered in onions, ketchup, mustard or why not even try topping with some delicious hearty chilli! You can't go wrong with a hot dog or veggie hotdog!

Baked Potatoes

Another typical food choice for this time of year. Top with layers of creamy melted cheese, bacon pieces or again, chilli is always a winning combination with potatoey goodness!

Chilli Con Carne

Talking of chilli, I suppose it should be somewhere on this list! Chilli Con Carne can easily be made in an under an hour from preparation to plate. Mincemeat (or without if you are vegetarian), chilli peppers kidney beans, tomatoes, onions and a touch of garlic can all be added to a pot and left to simmer while you prepare everything else. Don't forget to sprinkle some cheddar on top!

Sweet Potato Fries

Another simple recipe is sweet potato fries. The orange cousin of the humble spud! You can keep the skin on for extra crispiness or peel them. Drizzle with a little oil and bake in the over for 20 minutes – simple, quick, perfection!

Tortilla Pizza

A healthy and quick alternative to using dough. Layer tomato puree and cheese on top of a tortilla wrap and then let the kids go wild with picking their favourite toppings.

Parkin

Whether you think Parkin, ginger cake, cookie, sponge, bread or whatever you wish to call it originates from Northern England or Germany; this sweet treat of syrup and ginger has become a traditional food for most families on Bonfire Night. If like me, you have never heard of it before... why not give it a try!

Hot Chocolate

Okay, okay, this isn't food but how can we forget the staple of any Bonfire Night, or winter night in fact – hot chocolate! Warm frothy milk with the velvety taste of chocolate and melt in the mouth marshmallows or crunchy hazelnuts... we are drooling already!
