Children across Lincolnshire are collecting their GCSE results today.

Just like A-Levels earlier this week, exams have been axed and results are based on teacher assessments.

Those collecting results are being urged to keep an eye on their mental health during what could be a stressful day.

Gina Legg is from Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust.

"Their move to virtual learning, the ins and outs of school face-face-learning on top of that, as well as it being such a big two years for them anyway in terms of their GCSE studies.

"You can really understand how the pandemic has had a massive impact on young people."

She has this advice for anybody feeling anxious.

"This is one small part in our learning, our adult life, career and whatever that future holds for us.

"Recognise the positives and give yourself a pat on the back for the hard work and effort you've put in over the past two years.

"Whatever the outcome, be proud of it and speak to those around you about your options moving forward and take that pressure of yourself"

Jack Moore is from MIND, which covers Lincolnshire.

“Results day can be a difficult time anyway, especially after the last 18 months so it's really important for young people to not be too hard on themselves.

“These students should be really proud that that that they actually got that far. It's just a case of not being too hard on yourself.

"If you haven't done as well as you maybe expected speak to somebody you trust, maybe your teacher's family members or friends.

“If there is a young person who is struggling after getting the results, give us a call. We are available 24 hours a day seven days a week and you can message us on Facebook.

“If there is any young people who maybe haven't achieved the grades that they hoped for or maybe their grades don't allow them to go in the path what they wanted to go, don't be too hard with yourself there is lots of different options out there.”
