Grimsby's MP says she feels while extra money for MP's security IS vital it still fails to address the underlying issues surrounding increased harassment and threats.

Earlier this week it was announced that around 31 million pounds is being spent on "beefing up" security for MPs.

That could include bodyguards for those most at risk.

Lia Nici says many colleagues have experienced issues.

Lia Nici feels new measures ARE necessary but says it's a shame

She told us it's a great shame new measures have to be brought in.

However she does feel it is necessary to do so.

She said "I don’t know any of my Conservative colleagues who haven’t had harassment of some sort, or threats of intimidation or violence — in some cases death threats,”

“When we were elected in 2019, all MPs and their staff were issued with personal alarms."

"Our homes were security checked and alarms, CCTV and other security measures were installed as deemed necessary.

That isn’t something new.”
