Grimsby Town's opening National League fixture against Bromley, due to take place on Saturday, has been postponed after positive PCR coronavirus tests among some players.

It's after positive lateral flow results were confirmed by the club earlier today

The Mariners say they'll give out further details on the rearranged fixture when possible.

The club says:

"We would like to wish those players affected a very speedy recovery and we would also like to apologise sincerely to our supporters for the inconvenience this may cause"

Earlier today they had this statement:

"As we continue to improve the transparency of our communication with our supporters, Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that despite going over and above with its COVID safety protocols, positive lateral flow test results have been returned from members of the first team.

We are currently awaiting the results of conducted PCR tests from the affected members of the squad to confirm the validity of the original results ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Bromley"
