It was a bitter sweet result for the Imps at Peterborough.

They'd led 3 nil at their promotion rivals.

However Peterborough staged a dramatic comeback.

Their third came deep into injury time to make the final score 3 all.

The Imps were obviously disappointed they couldn't have held on.

A win would have meant they still had an outside chance of being promoted automatically to the Championship.

That goal for Peterborough meant they will take second spot in the table and automatic promotion rather than Lincoln.

However the point means the Imps are definitely taking part in the play offs with a chance of a Wembley final and ultimately going up.

It's been an amazing season for Lincoln.

For long spells they led the table.

However they hit a run of poor form which saw them drop out of the automatic promotion places.

Results eventually picked up just in time to make sure of that play off place.

What happens next?

The Imps still have two regular games left.

Firstly they play at Charlton on Tuesday night.

Their final game of the usual season will be at home to AFC Wimbledon on Sunday.

Even though they're certain of making the play offs those games are still important.

They're currently 4th in the table but will be looking to secure 3rd spot.

They have a decent chance of doing that as Sunderland, who are currently 3rd, only have one more game to play whilst the Imps have two.

The way the play offs work is that the 3rd placed team will play whoever finishes 6th.

They compete home and away and the aggregate score determines who goes to Wembley for the final.

The 3rd placed team would play the second leg of the semi at home, giving them a slight advantage knowing what they need to do, because they finished higher in the table.

So exciting times for Lincoln City and they still have the chance of going up into the Championship.
