England's deputy chief medical officer has praised the hard work of volunteers across Lincolnshire and Newark in their fight to vaccinate people across the county.

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, who's originally from Boston, has spent several shifts jabbing people at our local sites.

Last week JVT gave the vaccine out to members of his favourite football club, Boston United.

Speaking as part of our #MeetTheVaccinators campaign he says everybody matters.

"I just think itā€™s utterly fantastic.

"Iā€™ve been to quite a few vaccination centres now, different settings, slightly different ways of processing the patients, of moving people around to be efficient, but the common thing is that the staff are wonderful.

"Theyā€™re a fantastic mixture of NHS professionals, some retired NHS professionals and volunteers whoā€™ve gone through all the right training to do their bit in getting patients safely from the front doors back out to their cars, or on foot I guess, at the end of the vaccine process.

"No part of that system can work properly without the others"

"Every one of them matters, from the car park attendants, through to the receptionists, the cleaners, as well as the clinical staff who are actually giving the vaccines.

"It all matters, and no part of that system can work properly without the others and Iā€™m just terrifically grateful to all of them.

"I think they will get something from it too.

"I think weā€™ll all, those of us whoā€™ve taken part in the vaccination, are going to look back and say, you know, I was part of that and thatā€™s going to be something very big one day."
