Meresyide headteacher's tribute to students after most challenging school year ever

It's GCSE results day

As students across Merseyside open their GCSE's, Headteachers here are paying tribute after one of the most challenging school years ever.

Our region was one of the worst hit in the country, with hundreds sent home to isolate due to surging coronavirus rates.

That disruption meant exams were cancelled across the country with student assessed grades being given out instead.

Kevin Sexton is Head at Chesterfield High in Crosby :

"I don't know if I was sixteen if I could've coped with all the uncertainty; home-learning and remote learning, being ill themselves, having lots of complex situations with their own familes and for them to be able to get to the end of this year with such great results, this year group have been amazing for the last five years".
