Police have publicly shamed two supermarket shoppers for a bust up over a cut priced sandwich in Trafford.

Officers in charge of the GMP Trafford South Facebook page have posted a lengthy message lambasting those involved after a number of customers dialled 999 to report the scrap.

It's reported one of the men involved was left with a blood dripping down his face but officers say nobody was seriously hurt - they've described the whole incident as a "complete waste of police time and public funds".

Commenting on the post, Jessica Jayne Wilson said: "I was here GMP and fully agree it was a waste of police time ! Especially sending two police vans and 3 police cars!"

Anthony Barlow said: "They are like vultures circling around for a scrap of meat these people and there are many need to take a good look at themselves."

Officers are now urging people to behave in a respectful manner the next time they're looking for a bargain in the supermarket.
