HUNDREDS of people took to the football pitch to take part in a fundraising football match for Denton stabbing victim Dominic Doyle.

Mr Doyle, 21, of Haughton Green, Tameside, was killed earlier this month following a mass brawl in Denton.

The 11 a-side match took place at Denton Youth Football Club at Martin Fields in Denton.

Mr Doyle's friends and former team mates at Haughton Rangers Football Club decided to organise the 'Play for Dom' event to help raise funds for his funeral.

The total amount of money raised on the JustGiving donation website is currently at nearly £900.

Many friends and family watched from the sidelines, including his father Jason Doyle on Father's Day.

Supporters wore t-shirts saying: "Dom Doyle. We Love You" and doves were released into the air.

There was also a five a-side tournement, a raffle, bouncy castle and food.
