The Cromer Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) is going to be shut from Monday 4th January so staff can be redeployed to help at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

It's part of the NHS Trust's response to the coronavirus pandemic following rising infections and admissions in the county.

Staff based at the unit on Mill Road will be redeployed to support the minor injuries and Emergency Department at NNUH where teams are seeing increasing pressure.

The NHS Trust said they know it'll be disappointing for North Norfolk residents who value the MIU at Cromer.

They added that the space at the hospital will be used instead to maintain a low Covid-19 risk treatement area for surgical appointments and procedures.

The service is expected to be reopened as soon as the Covid-19 situation improves.
