Police are investigating the assault of a woman in Dereham town centre.

They were called to the Market Place at around 10.30pm on Sunday 2 May, following reports a man in a parked black Audi had punched a female passenger.

A man his 30s, from the Dereham area, was later arrested nearby on suspicion of assault and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

He has since been released on police bail while enquiries are ongoing.

Police say they are particularly keen to speak to moped/scooter riders who were in the area at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Lacey Lloyd on 101, quoting investigation number 36/29329/21.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
