Opening of Great Yarmouth's Herring Bridge delayed until early next year

The opening of Great Yarmouth's third river crossing has been delayed until early next year, after the finish touches are put to the £130m project.
Herring Bridge links the A47 to the port and enterprise zone via South Denes Road.
It was supposed to be completed in the summer and open by September, but the ribbon cutting has now been put back to early next year.
Norfolk County Council says it's in the 'final stages' of making the crossing operational to rival traffic, with the authority working with contractors and port authorities.
A joint statement from NCC and contractor BAM Farrans reads:
“We are in the final stages of preparing Herring Bridge for opening and we would like to thank the public for their continued patience and support.
“Our team is working closely with the port authority to bring the bridge into operation for river traffic, which we anticipate in the coming weeks. The road section will follow thereafter.
“We will provide further details on an opening date following the completion of our marine vessel operations phase.”
