Flood Alerts in place across the North East

Storm Christoph is bringing heavy downpours

As Storm Christoph continues to hit the North East we're being urged to stay alert as flooding is possible.

Last night fire crews in County Durham were invovled in a difficult rescue after a van overturned.

We have a yellow weather warning in place from the Met Office for heavy rain today (Wed 20/1) and Tomorrow.

Various Rivers and parts of the region are affected by the flood alerts – you can see more details here - https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/warnings

We do have some problems on the roads:

The A68 - Northumberland, West Woodburn is blocked, the River Rede has burst its banks and vehicles are currently stranded.

The A697 in Greenlaw from A6105 Duns Road to A698. The road is fully blocked due to flooding.

With storms comes possibilities of power outages.
