Plane makes emergency landing in Newcastle

The flight was diverted to the airport after technical problems.

A plane's been forced to make an emergency landing at Newcastle Airport - after a technical issue.

The EasyJet flight was from Edinburgh to Hamburg - but was diverted to Newcastle where it was met by emergency services this lunchtime -

The plane landed safely and no-one was hurt.

EasyJet have issued a statement:

“EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY6931 from Edinburgh to Hamburg on 28 November diverted to Newcastle as a precautionary measure only due to a technical issue.

“The aircraft landed safely and was met by emergency services in line with our procedures.

“The safety of its passengers and crew is easyJet's highest priority and easyJet operates its fleet of aircraft in strict compliance with all manufacturers’ guidelines.

“We apologise to passengers for the resulting delay.”
