Staff, patients and visitors to hospitals in Plymouth are going to benefit from new or upgraded facilities and other significant improvements.

The South West has been allocated £45.8 million in total, with £3.9 million of that going to our local NHS Trust.

The announcement came from Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock, who said it will tackle "crucial" maintenance work in hospitals across England which will "deliver immediate benefits".

Also receiving funding are Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (£5.2 million for 23 projects), Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (£2.8million for six projects), Devon Partnership NHS Trust (£800,000 for nine projects) and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust (£400,000 for 10 projects).

In Plymouth, the money will cover six projects which will be completed by March 2021.

The investment is part of £1.5billion announced by the Prime Minister in the summer to level up hospital infrastructure across the NHS.
