UFO sightings at all time high in Plymouth
2020 saw the largest number of extra-terrestrial reports to Devon and Cornwall Police
From claims of a UFO in the sky and in a man's back garden, it seems extra-terrestrial sightings in Plymouth are still at an all time high.
2020 saw the largest number of alleged UFO or alien sightings reported to Devon and Cornwall Police in the last six years, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.
The police were asked how many 999 or 101 calls the force has received in relation to alleged UFO or alien sightings from 2017 onwards, although a previous FOI also included figures from 2015 and 2016.
In the last six years, there have been 24 reports to the police when the caller to the police actually claimed to have seen an alien or a UFO.
But the response from the police said that all but four of the incidents involved individuals with mental health issues and are therefore not indicative of extra-terrestrial sightings.
Of the four, two incidents – in Falmouth and Plymouth in 2016 – also both involve individuals who were recorded as sounding heavily intoxicated, while a sighting in East Devon in 2018 turned out to be a helicopter; and a call from 2020 in Illogan saw officers find no evidence of a UFO or a drone.

- 2016, Falmouth, Cornwall: Caller states he has just seen an alien in the sky
- 2016, Dawlish, Devon: An alien was stood in the corner of callers room
- 2016, Truro, Cornwall: Further call from caller reporting aliens in her house
- 2017, Honiton, Devon: Said she has seen a UFO being chased by a Stealth Jet up the M5 – Family have spoken with social services to seek additional help in relation to caller’s current health issues
- 2017, Redruth, Cornwall: States she’s been attacked by an alien
- 2018, Plymouth, Devon: Among other claims, caller stating that he has seen a UFO and the police don’t have a ‘bloody clue’ – appears more mental health then malicious communications or intentional wasting police time
- 2018, Honiton, Devon: Caller report she’s seen a UFO and is involved with NASA. Previous logs state caller suffers with mental health and police visited and spoken at length with her to provide reassurance
- 2018, Seaton, Devon: Caller reporting strange little lights moving in the sky – travelling back from Lyme Regis to Sidmouth and they were first aware of these lights just outside Lyme Regis. Several times the lights were seen as they travelled along the road and they pulled over between Beer and Seaton to listen out for helicopter noise, but heard none
- 2018, Totnes, Devon: Caller rambling, making various claims including last night saw a UFO which froze her
- 2018, Falmouth, Cornwall: Something was seen to fly over Falmouth docks with a red light beaming on drone. The Caller thought it was suspicious, even mentioned they thought it was UFO, but then clarified it would be a drone
- 2018, Bodmin, Cornwall: Caller says there is going to be a fire at Bodmin Hospital and he knows this as he is God. Says that the fire is going to be started by a UFO. The hospital confirmed caller is a patient and currently resident at Bodmin Hospital having recently been sectioned
- 2018, Brixham, Devon: A caller said he saw a UFO in the sky and thought it might be a threat to humanity, or a nuclear missile. The male then stated that he has started cutting himself and police requested attendance of an ambulance
- 2019, Plymouth, Devon: The caller states that there is a UFO in his garden and made many other unconnected calls on the same day
- 2020, Torquay, Devon: The log said that the individual has mental health issues and that ‘she sees aliens and UFO’s’ You can be in the middle of a reasonable conversation and she will claim a UFO is over her flat
- 2020, Plymouth, Devon: Caller appears to be having mental health episode and claiming to have seen UFO in sky and has a video on phone
- 2020, Illogan, Cornwall: The caller said that there is a drone flying about his house with a camera on it. Officers attended, with no sign of any drone or UFO activity
- 2020, Plymouth, Devon: The caller has concerns about him and his partners, and the male has struggled with his mental health and claims to have seen an alien that told him to kill his partner
- 2020, Exeter, Devon: A rambling call from a female who says she can’t go to sleep because of the lights in the sky. She takes meds for personality disorder and the ambulance called
- 2020, Cullompton, Devon: The caller stated he wanted to report himself missing He thinks aliens are talking to him and states he hears the alien all the time.
