Two by-elections are being held in different parts of South Kesteven next month (28 October).

They are taking place following the death of Councillor Mike Exton (Stamford All Saints Ward) and the resignation of Councillor Helen Goral (Grantham Arnoldfield Ward).

Voting also coincides with two by-elections for All Saints North and St Mary's wards of Stamford Town Council on the same date.

Candidates can now be nominated.

Nomination papers must be signed by a proposer and seconder who need to be local government electors for the relevant ward.

The papers and information packs can be downloaded online or from the elections team by calling 01476 406080 or emailing elections@southkesteven.gov.uk .

Candidates have until 4pm on Friday (1 October) to submit completed nomination papers.

SKDC Chief Executive and Returning Officer for the district, Karen Bradford, said:

"This week marks the start of the period for people to put themselves forward as a candidate to represent their community.

"Public service by being a district or town councillor allows people to raise issues they feel passionate about or use their skills to help shape the future of where they live.

"We would encourage anyone who is interested in standing for election to get in touch and find out more before the deadline."

To take part, people need to be registered to vote by 12 October.

Residents can register online.
