A Rutland rail bridge will re-open for passengers today, after a collision caused major disruption to local services.

Commuters on the Leicester to Peterborough line have been forced to find different forms of transport since a lorry crashed into Foster's Bridge near Ketton over two weeks ago.

It's hoped the busy route will now operate at full capacity following the repair works that have taken place.

Editor of RAIL Magazine, Nigel Harris, has been telling us he's impressed with the speed of the repairs:

"You need to have the deck made, manufactured. You have prepare the site, get the equipment in, book the men. It's a big job."

"It's actually been done very quickly."

"Network Rail really deserve a pat on the back for the speed in which they've done it - although it might not seem it if you're having to drive long diversions around it."

"I can tell you that repair has been taken out at lightning speed."
