Many Rutland shops and businesses say its vital local people support them after weeks of not being able to trade.

They're encouraging people to change their shopping habits and support small companies to ensure their survival.

It’s as non essential shops reopened this week, with many trying to find their feet again.

Ben Callaghan is Director of Rutland Business Group.

He says spending money in the likes of Oakham, Uppingham and villages in the county will boost the local economy having a positive knock on effect for employment and investment.

He believes having a thriving retail sector in Rutland will also help boost tourism.

Also he thinks with the current situation there's a real opportunity to make the most of tourism with more of us choosing "staycations".
