Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns is among Tory rebels planning to vote against the government's 'Plan B' coronavirus measures later today.

The MP, who was first elected in 2019, says she doesn't believe there's enough evidence to suggest controversial Covid Passports would work to control the new Omicron variant of the virus.

She's also worried about the impact of ongoing restrictions in schools and workplaces.

It's understood that nearly 80 Tory MPs, including several from Lincolnshire, are prepared to vote against Covid passports today.

If approved, the documents will have to be shown in order to gain access to:

-Nightclubs

-In-door unseated venues with more than 500 people

-Unseated outdoor venues with more than 4,000 people

-Any venue with more than 10,000 people

The measures will almost certainly get through the House of Commons, as they're being backed by Labour.

However this Tory revolt is likely to be the largest since the General Election.

It comes after a week of bruising revelations about Christmas parties and gatherings at Number 10 Downing Street last year.
