An artist from Stamford will be featuring on Portrait Artist of the Year tonight (27 October).

People will be able to catch Michelle Fernandes, better known as Meesh, on the show at 8pm.

Meesh revealed to Greatest Hits Radio that stand-up comedian Nish Kumar has bought the portrait she created.

She told Greatest Hits Radio that it was a "dream come true" to take part:

"I kept wanting to pinch myself while it was going on, like is this even real?

"It was just a whirlwind.

"It was an intense day - 7am-7pm filming, but the actual portrait is painted within four hours.

"So either side of that there's a lot of other interviews that happen as well, and prep work and planning."

Meesh also spoke about how she is feeling ahead of it airing later:

"It's still nerve-racking isn't it, seeing yourself on TV.

"I can't remember what came out of mouth but hopefully nothing embarrassing!

"I've got all my friends and family that are going to be watching it.

"I'm proud of it though.

"I'm really, really proud regardless of how I come across."

She also currently has a solo exhibition running at The Blonde Beet in Stamford until 7 November, where people will be able to see the self portrait she submitted in her application.

Proceeds from the ticketed preview have been given to Stamford Anti-Racism Group.
