Lib Dems take vacant Rutland County Council by election

The Liberal Democrats won yesterday's by election for Rutland County Council

Their candidate Paul Browne was victorious in the race to represent the Oakham South Ward.

He secured 886 votes whilst Conservative Andy Burton got 420.

They were the only two candidates standing.

It followed the resignation of the previous Councillor Nick Woodley.

There were 9 spoilt ballot papers.
