Officers from the Wiltshire's Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle on the A303 on Thursday (12 Nov) after a number of reports it was connected to hare coursing in nearby fields. Officers found 5 men and 4 dogs inside the vehicle.

They arrested the driver for an unrelated offence, and the other four men dealt with for Poaching offences. One of the men was also found to be in breach of a Community Behaviour Order.

All five men now face court, and their vehicle was seized.

Sergeant Darren PENNY from Team 3 Amesbury said:

"Hare coursing is often under looked as a crime but the impact on the rural community is massive. I believe that it is a clear message that Hare coursing will not be tolerated within our county. I will take this opportunity to thank all of the officers involved and those who have called it in to us."
