Police officers 'shocked' by extreme breath test result

A motorist has been arrested after being caught more than three times the drink drive limit in Amesbury.

Wiltshire Officers say the driver's was stopped yesterday (Fri 18 Dec) on the A360 around Longbarrow Roundabout.

Following the routine check, the driver was breathlised and provided a reading of 150ug (legal limit is 35ug) and was arrested and taken to Melksham Police Custody, where the driver provided an evidential sample of 122ug.

DRINK DRIVING CHARGE

When they've sobered up later this morning, or this afternoon, they'll be charged with drink driving.

Wiltshire Police Officer PC Tryhorn said:

"This was an extremely high reading and to be over 3x the legal limit is shocking."

"Throughout December we have been proactively targetting drink drivers and this arrest goes to show that those who chance driving and risk getting behind the wheel will being caught. The sentence for drink driving starts at mandatory disqualification and can end in imprisonment."
