Theatregoers return to Salisbury Playhouse tonight for the first time in 2021

The pandemic meant the venue wasn't able to start their socially-distanced season on January 19th as planned.

This evening performers finally veturn to the stage with Further Education students getting the first honour.

Those heading along can expect an "eclectic mix of performance styles and forms" in what's billed as a celebration of the students’ work over the past year.

They'll be a smaller than usual audience to ensure social distancing can be met with some seat rows removed.

Capacity has been reduced from 512 to 148 and there's a one way system in operation along with enhance cleaning and mandatory face coverings.

The Playhouse said;

"We are delighted to be open for our spring season and can’t wait to welcome you back."

Tonight's show will be followed by a season of theatre, dance, music and comedy which includes a version of Beauty and the Beast and a film showing of the musical Kinky Boots.
