A motorist who drove at 100mph during a Police chase on the A36 north of Salisbury has been jailed for 13 months.

Officers attempted to stop Rovjon Hoisani who was driving an Audi A4 on Wilton Road, Salisbury, shortly before midnight on 1st December 2020.

The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was authorised, with police following the car on the A36 northbound.

He drove at excess speed, including 80mph in a 30mph zone and 100mph in 50 and 60mph zones and also drove on the wrong side of the road around blind bends.

HOISANI TRIED TO ESCPAPE

The pursuit came to an end when Hoisani lost control on a sharp left-hand bend close to Stapleford, with the car leaving the road.

However, he jumped out of the car and tried to run through a nearby field but was detained by police.

Last Friday, 25th June, 27-year-old Hoisani, of Ellacombe in Torquay, appeared at Winchester Crown Court for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

Hoisani, who had previous convictions for driving offences and was on licence at the time of the pursuit last year, was jailed for 13 months. He also had his current two-year driving ban extended by seven months and will need to take a re-test to get his licence back.

Det Con Ben Brewster, who was the officer driving during the pursuit, said: "Hoisani showed a complete disregard for the safety of other road users, driving dangerously and recklessly.

"Throughout the pursuit I witnessed him driving at excessive speed, failing to slow down at junctions or roundabouts and regularly driving on the wrong side of the road while going around blind bends.

"I believe it is only due to the fact that traffic was so light at that time of night that somebody wasn't seriously or fatally injured."
