SPEEDING: Police say driver was going 96mph on the A338 at Nunton

Numerous vehicles were stopped and dealt with for various offences, some of which were serious, as detailed here:

  • One person was reported to court on the A338 near to Britford for driving in excess of the 70mph dual carriageway speed limit. They were recorded travelling at 96mph.
  • One person was given a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) on Wiltshire Road in Salisbury for “driving whilst not in a position to have a full view of the road” following a sighting of a van being driven with newspapers stacked across the length of the dashboard.
  • One person was given a TOR on Downton Road in Salisbury for driving in excess of the 30mph speed limit. They were recorded travelling at 45mph.
  • One person was given a TOR on London Road in Salisbury for driving a motor vehicle without a valid insurance certificate.

PC Boyland, of the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“We work hard to keep our road safe and we focus on the fatal four, which is the four factors which are most likely to contribute to a fatal or serious injury road traffic collision. These are drink/drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, driving while distracted, and driving at excess speed."

"There is no doubt that the offences dealt with today posed a risk to the drivers and passengers of these vehicles as well as other road users. We will continue to crack down on this sort of behaviour, by educating road users and taking enforcement action when it is necessary.”
