Fordingbridge WILL have Christmas Lights Switch on

Fordingbridge Town Council have announced that a Christmas Lights Switch On event will be held on 27th November at the Market Place

Father Christmas will travel along the High Street in his sleigh pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine, beginning at Roundhill at 6pm, before arriving at the Market Place.

Traditional carols will be sung and a local hero will switch on the town’s Christmas lights.

Unlike previous years there will be no indoor entertainment in the Town Hall or community centres, fairground rides or street stalls.

That decision has been made 'due to the ongoing pandemic and to minimise the risk of transmission.'

Local roads will be shut from 530pm-7pm.

The Town Council are not expecting local businesses to open late either.

Anyone attending is encouraged to give a donation to support two local charities:

New, unwrapped gifts for the Salvation Army Present Appeal

Non-perishable, in-date food items for the Food Bank can be brought to the Town Hall on the evening (or to the Information Office beforehand)

Salisbury has already announced it isn't holding a traditional light switch on this year.

Last month city bosses confirmed it was holding a smaller '_family- friendly event' _on the 19th November.
