Public 'water refill stations' in New Forest

People out and about in the New Forest can now fill their reusable water bottles with mains drinking water for free thanks to new public water refill stations installed by New Forest District Council.

A, Brockenhurst, Burley, Hythe and Totton, have just had water stations installed as a way to reduce the need to purchase drinks in single use plastic bottles.

New Forest District Council (NFDC) applied for funding to provide the new amenities under the government’s Welcome Back Fund which aims to encourage people to shop locally.

Cllr Michael Harris, NFDC portfolio holder for business, high streets, and tourism, said:

“Making high streets more appealing and encouraging people to shop locally is one of the key economic development aims outlined in our corporate plan. And one way to do that is to add convenient and environmentally friendly facilities for people to use. So refill your own bottle, protect the New Forest and help save Planet Earth."

All New Forest District Council water refill stations are located on the outside of public toilet buildings.

Water refill stations are also located at Ringwood, Lyndhurst, Milford on Sea, and in Beaulieu.
