Richard Browning, the inventor of the Gravity Industries jet pack, flew in over the weekend to help charity Serve On with a training exercise.

Volunteers from the Chilmark based charity's International Response Team, Community Resilience Teams, Dog Team and Rescue Rookies were working to repair the 16th century weir at Avoncliffe.

The disaster response team were aided by Mr Browning, as he took flight to make an equipment delivery along the River Avon.

Serve on were restoring the weir as there are conerns that if it collapses, it could seriously lower the level of the river through Bradford.

Volunteers used thousands of sandbags in a project to shore up the weir, at least for a few years.

JET PACK

Richard, who is from Harnham, founded Gravity Industries in 2017 and the company have since created the Daedalus Mark 1, a jet pack that uses several miniature jet engines to achieve vertical flight.

The former Royal Marine reservist's futuristic suit has been seen by over a billion people across the world, including 250 school children on Salisbury Cathedral School's lawn in December 2018.

It uses six ECU kerosene microturbines, a HUD system, Wi-Fi data linkage, fuel air detection, graphene composites and an airbag system.
