Man arrested after incident at Salisbury football match

He's alleged to have shouted racist abuse at the players.

Wiltshire Police say they're investigating what happened at the game, which was being played at Bishopdown Green at around 2.45pm on Saturday afternoon (5th September).

It was between Salisbury's George and Dragon FC and the Southampton based side FC Stunde.

The incident happened while a game was being played at Bishopdown Green on Saturday afternoon

A member of the public started to shout racial abuse at the players involved.

A man in his 60s from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harrassment in connection with the incident.

He has since been interviewed by police and released under investigation.

PC Jim Brown says they're now asking anyone who might have seen what happened to get in touch:

"We understand that there were a number of witnesses to the incident and we need to speak to them as part of our enquiries. If you can help, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Behaviour of this nature is completely unacceptable and will simply not be tolerated."
