People in Wiltshire will have a chance to find out more, and speak with the team behind, the A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down upgrade past Stonehenge.

National Highways are taking their 'chatty van' around the county over the next few days for residents to come and ask questions.

The Secretary of State for Transport is currently relooking at the planning application for the transformational £1.7 billion scheme, following the quashing of the decision to grant the Development Consent Order last year.

With the scheme paused during the redetermination process, National Highways has since submitted updated information to the Transport Secretary and routine survey work is also ongoing across the route of the proposed upgrade.

It starts today (Saturday 21st May) at Shrewton Village Hall and Recreation Ground car park.

The full roadshow is:

Saturday, 21st May – Shrewton Village Hall X 9.30am-11.30am - Bell Inn, Winterbourne Stoke 12.30pm-3pm

Sunday 22nd May – Central Car Park, Mill Stream Approach, Salisbury 10am-3pm

Monday 23rd May – Bowman Centre, Shears Drive, Amesbury 10am-3pm

Tuesday 24th May – Guildhall Square, Salisbury 10am-3pm

Wednesday 25th May – Sainsbury’s, Durrington 9.30am-12noon - Church Street Car Park, Amesbury 1pm-3.30pm

Following the tour, people will also have the opportunity to put questions to A303 Stonehenge Project Manager David Bullock in a live web chat on Thursday 16th June.

He said:

“There seems to be some uncertainty about the status of the scheme, and some misconceptions within local communities, and we’re hoping to provide people with answers to their questions and an update on where the scheme’s at.

“People can put any questions they want to us and we welcome the chance to engage with anyone who might be directly impacted and those interested in the proposed scheme.”

Anyone wanting to submit a question for the live chat can do so on the project's website.

The Stonehenge Heritage Action Group, who are against the plans, say they will be "making their presence heard".
