Part of the Netherhampton Road will be closed throughout this week (Monday 12th to Friday 16th February), for major roadworks.

Wiltshire Council's shutting the A3094 from the Park Wall junction to Lower Road in Quidhampton, to allow for the carriageway to be completely rebuilt and repaired.

That's aimed at improving the surface and preventing further damage.

The work will also include hedge clearing and gully cleaning.

Cllr Caroline Thomas, Cabinet Member for Transport, said:

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works at Quidhampton, but this is an essential project to rebuild the road and improve it for years to come.

“We are carrying out this work during half-term to try to minimise disruption as much as possible, but there may be some delays and diversions will be in place throughout the week.

“We have committed in our Business Plan to having well-connected communities, and to help with this we are investing a further £10m over the next two years into maintaining and resurfacing the county’s roads.

“To make the most of the road closure and minimise disruption in the future, we are also using this closure to carry out additional maintenance along the road. These key improvements are essential to maintaining our road network and improving people’s journeys.”

Traffic management will be in place during the works, with the closure and diversion route clearly indicated by traffic signs.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible.

It comes at the same time as emergency gas works on Churchill Way West and Castle Road in Salisbury, and the ongoing River Park and Fisherton Gateway projects, all of which have been causing traffic disruption and delays.
