900 households in New Forest still haven't received energy rebate

The District Council's urging people to come forward to claim it

900 households in the New Forest District Council (NFDC) area still haven't had their £150 energy rebate from the Government.

The local authority's urging those who are eligible, and haven't had it, to come forward before a deadline of 30th September.

A total of 52,500 households have already had the rebate paid to them by NFDC.

Most of those had it paid into the bank accounts their council tax direct debit is taken from, back in April and May this year.

The Government announced the cash to help people with the rising cost of energy bills.

Ryan Stevens, revenue and benefits service manager at NFDC, said:

“We have made this payment to over 52,500 households but there are around 900 households, who do not pay council tax by direct debit, who have not yet made their claim. We have sent two letters to urge them to get their £150 council tax energy rebate, and will shortly write again.

“Nobody will miss out on the payment, as anyone who does not claim the rebate will have the £150 paid to their council tax account, but with the increase in the cost of living and the energy price rises that are predicted for the winter, we would prefer that households have this money now.”

Who's eligible?

The one-off payment's available to people who live in a property in council tax bands A to D, and it was their sole or main residence in April 2022.

The money's also being paid out to people in Band E properties, if the householders receive a disability band reduction.

If you think you're due the rebate and haven't had it paid to you yet, you can visit the NFDC website to make a claim.
