Philip Wilkinson has been re-elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon.

He retained his role after securing 38,578 votes to beat his three fellow candidates.

In the Wiltshire area, Mr Wilkinson secured 24,503 votes, adding a further 14,075 in the Swindon area.

Labour candidate Stanka Adamcova secured 24,230 votes in the Swindon area, but missed out by 2,223 votes to the incumbent.

Mr Wilkinson told Greatest Hits Radio he's happy to be carrying on.

"I feel very relieved," he said, adding: "I'm very happy to have the opportunity to continue the journey of improvement that I've been on for the last two years with the Chief Constable in Wiltshire."

The Force, which was placed into special measures in 2022 by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services, has been making improvements to get out of the 'Engage' process.

The PCC said: "We were not in a good place when I took over. We are now doing a lot better, but we have a long way to go.

"I'm really privileged that I will be able to work with the Chief Constable to be able to make the necessary improvements.," he said.

He added that building trust and confidence is essential to delivering a Police force that can keep people safe.

"I think a lot of people know me, I found that when I was out electioneering. People know I'm determined and dedicated to this job. I will make things better with the Chief Constable's help and assistance."
