Planning to begin on memorial to murdered Salisbury mother and daughter

A fundraiser to remember Aneta and Nikoleta Zdun has more than reached its target

A JustGiving page, to raise money for a permanent memorial in Salisbury for Aneta and Nikoleta Zdun, was set up not long before Christmas.

The mum and daughter were murdered by their husband and father Marcin Zdun at their home in Wessex Road in June 2020.

He was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 34 years, for the killings in December 2020.

The fundraiser initially aimed to bring in £500, with the target having to increased to £800 in a matter of weeks, and has now raised over £1,000.

The campaign had been supported by Salisbury Police:

It was all set up by Salisbury resident Cameron Pratt, on behalf of the Zdun's neighbours in Wessex Road.

On the JustGiving page, he explained why it had been launched:

"This tragedy has left a hole in the lives of all who knew Aneta and Nikoleta, including the neighbours, workmen, and the services who raced to the scene on that sunny June day. As Aneta and Nikoleta were returned to Poland after the incident, not everybody will get the opportunity to visit their graves and pay their respects.

"As time has gone on and a new family have moved into the house where the incident has happened, the community and residents of Wessex Road feel there should be a permanent memorial somewhere in Salisbury for all those who are grieving the loss of these two amazing young women to lay flowers, sit, or remember their lives and pay their respects."

There was a strong police presence around the Wessex Road area after the incident last June

The JustGiving page is now being closed to allow for the organisers to start planning what kind of permanent memorial they'd like to create for Nikoleta and Aneta.

Police in the city have said they'll 'continue to support the community impacted' by what happened last summer.

They've also said they'll be 'proud to pay our respects' to the mum and daughter once the memorial's in place.
