Wiltshire Police are warning people to be vigilant after a number of quad bike and vehicle thefts across the county.

The Rural Crime team say they have seen a rise in recent weeks.

They have now issued some advice to try help people avoid these types of thefts.

You should:

  • Invest in a quality padlock and chain or something that takes time for it to be removed to secure the quad to the ground
  • Never leave keys in the ignition, even if you briefly leave it unattended
  • Secure quads/ATV's well out of sight from public view areas like roads and footpaths
  • Use security lighting to illuminate yards and buildings
  • Block in with other machinery or heavy items where possible
  • Fit audible alarm systems

If you suspect a crime in progress, call 999 immediately, observe and provide as much information as possible.
