A stretch of Porton Road in Amesbury is being closed for resurfacing from 6th July until 19th July.

The section between Pendragron Drive to the junction with London Road is affected with the closure in place between 9am and 3.30pm

The work will be done in three phases -

Phase 1 – 6th - 9th July 2021:

  • Access from north - resurfacing taking place from Boscombe Road roundabout north to the Mills Way/Sunrise Way roundabout.

Phase 2 – 12th -14th July

  • Access from south - resurfacing taking place from Mills Way/Sunrise Way roundabout north to the Solstice Park roundabout.

Phase 3 – 15th - 19th July

  • Lining and Ironworks affecting all areas (no weekend working)

An alternative route will be in place and clearly signed via London Road/ A345/ Smithfield Street/ Earls Court Road/ Boscombe Road/ Pendragon Drive in both directions.

Wiltshire Council say the works shouldn't overun so long as weather conditions are favourable.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Cllr Dr Mark McClelland, Cabinet Member for Transport said,

“We have written to residents and businesses giving them details about the planned works and closures and suggesting that they talk to the workforce on the ground ahead of work taking place in the vicinity of their property to ask if there will be any restrictions with regards to access.

“We will also ensure that signing is in place to advise that local businesses will be open as usual.

“I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause but trust you will appreciate the necessity for these essential works to maintain Wiltshire's highway network.”

Meanwhile the A345 through Pewsey will be closed to traffic between the 9th and 20th of August between 7am - 6pm, again for resurfacing.

The closure will affect River Street, Church Street, Swan Road and part of Salisbury Road.

The road will be shut from its junction with High Street in a southerly direction to the termination point of the 30mph speed limit on Salisbury Road.
