Salisbury City Council have confirmed that there will be an announcement of our new Sovereign in the city.

At 1:15pm tomorrow (Sunday 9th September) The Mayor, Cllr Tom Corbin, will read the local proclamation in the Guildhall Square.

It follows the National Proclamation which takes place this morning at 11am, where the flag at the city's Guildhall will be raised to full mast.

It will return to half mast when Cllr Corbin does his reading.

Anyone in Salisbury is being invited to witness the proclamation.

Meanwhile, there is a Book of Condolences open to sign in the foyer of the Guildhall.

This available to the public 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

There is also another book at Salisbury Cathedral.

The Book of condolences at Salisbury Cathedral was first signed by the Dean of Salisbury and Bishop of Salisbury

People can also lay floral tributes on the lawn at the Cathedral or in front of the War Memorial in the city centre.

The city council say that during this period of national mourning, many Council meetings and events will be cancelled.

This includes Street Sellers this Sunday and the Car Boot Sale on Sunday 18th September.

The Charter Market will operate as normal.
