Salisbury District Hospital is asking people not to attend the emergency department unless they are acutely ill and need urgent hospital treatment

In statement released today (March 1st ) the trust says the measure is needed so "staff can care for patients with severe or life-threatening injuries and illness" adding "everyone’s cooperation is appreciated during this challenging time."

The public are being urged to consider alternatives for treatment for minor injuries or illness such as the Salisbury Walk-In Centre

Local pharmacists can also provide advice.

If anyone is unsure, they should call NHS 111 or go to www.111.nhs.uk.
