A new 'Retirement Living Development' on Endless Street in Salisbury has been officially opened.

Salisbury MP John Glen was there to cut the ribbon, alongside employees from developer McCarthy and Stone and retirees from the city.

The 'Castle Gate' complex has opened up adjacent with the Monument Place development, which is also owned by McCarthy and Stone.

John Glen MP said:

"I was delighted to be invited to Salisbury to the opening of Castle Gate. The development provides an excellent solution for those looking to enjoy an independent and active lifestyle in retirement, and I enjoyed meeting and chatting to the new residents. It's clear everyone values the quality of life afforded by their surroundings and the freedom of having a range of services on their doorstep."

There are 24 apartments, which have been built at the top of the street, replacing the former 'Friends Life' offices.

16 out of 24 properties have been reserved or sold at the Castle Gate development so far.

Shane Paull, Divisional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone, said:

"We were thrilled to welcome John Glen MP to celebrate the opening of Castle Gate.

We are committed to delivering an exceptional lifestyle and, as such, the development enjoys a prime location with access to a superb array of local amenities, allowing our residents to live independently with support when needed, and to cater to their own individual needs."
