The City Council's Activity Leaders put on the teenagers' training

Teenagers in Salisbury with disabilities are getting another chance to play football for the 2022/23 season.

12 to 18 year olds are being invited to join training sessions run by the City Council's Community Activity Leaders.

The team meets to play every Monday during term time, from 5.00 to 6.00pm at South Wilts Sports Club on Wilton Road.

The first session is free, and then £4 a week afterwards.

Tim, a parent of one participant who has been attending since the start, has been pleased with the opportunities it's given his child:

“I have been bringing Noah to these sessions since September 2018. He would not be able to access main-stream football, so these sessions are so important to him and give him and others the opportunity to practice and learn new skills, play some football, and have some fun for an hour on Monday evenings.

"I have observed not only our child but the other members grow in confidence, not only in football skills, but also socially and this is due mainly to the patience and professionalism of Sean and his team. All are made to feel very welcome."

If you would like any more information, you can contact Sean at the Bemerton Heath Centre on 01722 417100, or email bhc@salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk.

Once young people reach 18, there's an opportunity to join the Salisbury Tigers, an adult Pan Disability Football Team, who train alongside younger section at the same time.
